Windows
2000
Microsoft will soon release its latest operating
system, Windows 2000. So what's the big deal? Well Windows 2000 is not an
upgrade of Windows 95 or 98. It is actually an upgrade for Windows NT 4.0.
Windows 2000 is a network operating system not your average desktop operating
system. Confused? Check out these sites.

Y2K
The Y2K problem
stems from the fact that many computer makers and programers opted to conserve data space
by using a two digit date code instead of a four digit code. That is the computer
sees the year 1998 as 98, which is fine until... The year 2000 presents many
computers with a choice to make, specifically, how to interpret 00 as a date. The
trouble is many computers see it as 1900 instead of 2000. And so the millennium bug
was born, and now it's all grown up. |
